Moscow and Minsk again have a common potash project.
Two years after the breakup of "Uralkaliy" and "Belaruskaliy" the latter found a new Russian partner - Mikhail Gutseriev. He promises to invest about $ 1.7 billion in construction production of 2 million tons of fertilizers per year in Belarus. Minsk is ready to support the project, including a joint trading with "Belaruskaliy". However, additional capacities may be unclaimed on the background of the economic problems in major consuming countries.
Today, Acting President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the framework of his working visit to Ufa took part in the opening ceremony of the V International Business Forum "Big Chemistry", the press centre of the President of Tatarstan reports. The forum aims to discuss the development strategy of the Russian petrochemical industry in the new economic and political conditions.
Speaking at the plenary session, Rustam Minnikhanov noted that today Tatarstan was one of the leading petrochemical regions of Russia. The strategy of socio-economic development of Tatarstan through until 2030 determines petrochemical complex and machinery the main points of the growth, said the Acting President of Tatarstan. Speaking of problems, Rustam Minnikhanov said that this year Tatarstan plans to launch a new chemical complex Ammonium for the production of methanol, fertilizers and nitrogen compounds. He added that the republic started to build "a plant for 6 million tons" - a plant for processing 6 million tons of oil per year. This project will fully provide polymer manufacturers of Tatarstan with raw materials.
The largest consumer of natural gas in Lithuania (37% of the total volume of imported gas - more than 1 billion cubic meters), the only producer of nitrogen fertilizers in the Baltic States - Achema plant partially stopped its production in July because of high gas prices. What will Lithuania face, if something that seems unlikely for a while, happens – Achema will lose Russian gas? The total volume of the plant's production is about 2 million tons; Achema exports most of it (80%) to the EU countries: France (17%), the UK (14%), Germany (9%), Belgium (5%), Poland (5%) and so on. The enterprise employs about 1 400 people.
Oil and oil products loading in the Surgut district increased by 10.7% up to 18.9 million tons in January-June 2014 against the same period last year. The head of Sverdlovsk Railroad (SvZhD, part of OJSC “RZhD”) A.Mironov said. “ the loading growth rate at SvZhD is mainly because of high paying freight. The growth is, first of all, due to active increase of the production and processing of hydrocarbons in the oil-and-gas sector in the north of Tyumen region, as well as the development of the Verchnekamsk deposit, the growth of potassium and nitrogen fertilizers at Solikamsk-Berezniki cluster, the production of building, mining and smelting cargo in Yekaterinburg and Nizhny Tagil regions,” ITAR-TASS reports citing Mironov.
Rosneft’s Head, Igor Sechin continues his campaign on entry to Gazprom’s markets, combining it with plans on the strengthening of the oil company’s positions in Belarus. It became known yesterday that Rosneft discussed gas supplies to the country – in particular, to the largest local nitrogen-fertilizer maker Grodno-Azot. The mechanism, using which Rosneft is going to get round the Gazprom’s monopoly, isn’t clear – it is a question of not LNG, on which export liberalization is real, but of pipeline gas.
Rosneft’s President Igor Sechin, who is going to consolidate his company’s status as the monopolistic oil exporter to Belarus and, as sources of Kommersant assure, takes part in the arrangement of a conflict of the country with Uralkalyi, wants to have more. Yesterday the Belarusian state concern Belneftekhim reported that last week during the meeting of the Rosneft’s President, Igor Sechin and the concern’s Head, Igor Zhilin “the possibilities of gas supplies by Rosneft” to the concern’s enterprises, including to Grodno Azot “were discussed”. The names of the enterprises weren’t specified. Grodno Azot consumes about 2 billion cubic meters per year, now it is supplied by Gazprom..
