In February of the current year, according to railway statistics, the export of Russian ferrous scrap to Belarus amounted to 93 thousand tons.
In 2016, Izhstal (a part of the Mechel group) increased the volume of the supply to the largest Belarusian manufacturer of automotive vehicles MAZ by 71%.
In early January the demand for pipe products of the Belarus metallurgical plant grew significantly.
The volumes of steel making in 6 CIS countries in January - October 2016 fell by 0.2% to 84.746 mln tons while in October they rose by 0.3% to 8.463 mln tons (both results in the annual terms).
In January-August 2016 steel production at the Belarus metallurgical plant made up 1.443 mln tons – by 21% lower in annual terms.
The production volume of Belarus metallurgical plant in Q2 2016 made up BYN 346 mln, by 20% higher than in Q1 2016.
In the coming 6 years the Belarus metallurgical plant plans to realize a few large investment projects. Among them is the foundation of a complex on special steel output.
The World Steel Association of Steel producers reported that steel output in the 6 CIS countries in Q1 2016 fell by 0.4% while in March it grew by 2.3% in annual terms.
According to Yieh.com, the European Commission has initiated an anti-dumping investigation against import of steel reinforcement and wire from Belarus.
An investigation has started after the petition of the European Iron and Steel Association (EUROFER), filed in February 2016 and confirming that the supplies inflicted harm to the local manufacturers.
There held active operation on the implementation of the largest investment project of OJSC “Belaruskali” – construction of the Petrikovsky ore mining-and-smelting combine.
New local railway has been put in operation.
