Polish operator Gaz System has preliminary asked for the construction of gas pipeline, which will be able to supply 11 billion cubic meters of gas from the Nord Stream-2 project, although Warsaw is officially against the project. According to market participants, if the goal of Poland is to gain access to the German gas market and to maintain the importance of the Yamal - Europe gas pipeline, the easiest way to ensure this is through the virtual reverse.
Poland has asked for 11 billion cubic meters of gas per year from the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline, which will be laid from Russia's Ust-Luga on the Baltic Sea to German Greifswald, said a member of the Wintershall’s Board Ties Tiessen. Wintershall participates in the project of Gazprom together with the German E.On, Anglo-Dutch Shell, Austrian OMV and French Engie. The news is remarkable due to the fact that Warsaw has officially always strongly opposed to the gas pipeline. Mr. Tiessen reported the country's desire to receive gas from the Nord Stream-2 pipeline at the conference in Berlin, when asked about the delay in issuing permits by Poland to investors to buy shares in the project. Deputy chairman of the Gazprom’s Board Alexander Medvedev confirmed the words of Ties Tiessen.
