A ceremony of laying the first ice-breaking vessel under Arc130A project, Ice Class Icebreaker 8, built by order of Gazpromneft was hosted in Vyborg Shipyard (VSZ). The ship was named "Aleksandr Sannikov".
Two icebreaking vessels intended for operation in the Gulf of Ob (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District) for the oil terminal on Novoportovsk field will be built at VSZ. Ships are intended to ensure the shipment of oil, icebreaking tankers, rescue, towing vessels, firefighting, participation in oil spill response operations.

Today, the potential of the Northern Sea Route is increasingly associated with oil and gas deposits on the Russian shelf, but the transit container flows may be another driver of the Northern Sea Route development.
Interdepartmental Commission under the Russian Ministry of Economic Development will support the investment project for the construction of icebreakers for Yamal. It chose 4 projects for their inclusion in the program of support, based on project financing.
