Russia and the Ukraine sign gas agreement

Russia, the European Union and the Ukraine have agreed on the resumption of Russian gas supplies to Ukrainian consumers, on the guarantee of its transit to the EU countries and the partial repayment of Kiev’s gas debts. On the results of two-day negotiations, documents in the value of $4.6 billion were signed.

"The people of Europe won’t be cold this winter thanks to the reached agreements," – the European Commission President, Jose Manuel Barroso reported the main result of the arrangements for the European Union. The share of Gazprom in the European gas imports is 60%, and half of it comes through the Ukrainian territory.
