In 2015, KAZ Minerals plans to produce 80-85 thousand tons of copper

By results of the first six months of 2015, KAZ Minerals produced 37 thousand tons of copper cathode. The production paces will allow the company to achieve planned 80-85 thousand tons by the end of the year. The production of copper in concentrate made up 43 thousand tons. In the reporting period, 2.23 million tons of ore were produced at the mines of East Kazakhstan and the Bozymchak open-pit mine, the average copper content in ore amounted to 2.24%.

In the first six months, the company demonstrated high performances in the zinc and silver production as by-products. It was produced 50 thousand tons of zinc in concentrate. The zinc content in ore of the Artemyevsky mine proved to be more than expected, also, in the reporting period stockpiled ore with higher content of zinc was processed at Nikolayevsky concentrator plant. In the reporting period, 1.66 million ounces of silver granules were produced. Among the positive factors are higher than expected silver content in the ore of the Artemyevsky and Irtyshsky mines, increase in recovery rates and additional amount of processing from unfinished production. The results of the first half of the year in terms of zinc in concentrate and silver allow the enterprise to predict achieving the upper range of the annual plan - 90-95 thousand tons and 2.2-2.5 million ounces respectively.
