Sanctions against Russia are harmful for Western business too

Western energy giants are concerned that in case of introduction of sanctions against Russia their business in the country can suffer seriously. Analysts interviewed think that Russia is deeply integrated into the global economy and introduction of sanctions will make problems not only for certain companies, but also for countries.

Today the interests of our companies are tied with interests of foreign corporations. Thus, the American Exxon Mobil has worked in Russia for 20 years, surveying fields in the Russian Arctic. It has several joint projects with Russian companies as in Russia, as in other parts of the world.

The British newspaper the Financial Times reported at the end of the previous week, referring to sources that were familiar with the situation, that French oil and gas company Total negotiated with Lukoil on development of joint projects in Russia.
