Construction of Turkmenistan-India gas pipeline may start in December

In December 2015, it is scheduled to begin the construction of one of the largest pipelines on the continent on the route of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI). The estimated cost of the project will be about $10 billion.

At the same time, the state-owned concern Turkmengaz, acting as the leader of the consortium and the main investor in the project, is going to start the construction of its section of the pipeline with its own efforts.

It is planned that the length of the TAPI gas pipeline will be 1800 km, including 200 km on the territory of Turkmenistan, 773 km in Afghanistan, 827 km - through the territory of Pakistan (to Fazilka village on the border with India).

The designated capacity of the TAPI pipeline will be up to 33 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
Recently, the Government of Turkmenistan considered the budget of the pipeline construction from the Turkmen side, in accordance with which Turkmengaz, as the leader of the consortium, will be the main investor of the TAPI gas pipeline project.
