Mechel might sell a part of assets to settle the debt

Mechel OJSC admits the sale of a part of Russian assets, the major shareholder I. Zyuzin said answering the question of the variants of settlement of the company’s debts.

We consider such an opportunity. We think in this situation when the prices for assets are quite low it is necessary to assess what to do: either to  sell the assets or wait for the direction of the market movement. We admit the sale of a part of assets, Zyuzin said reminding that the main assets are left in Russia.

We have only one small metalware plant in Lithuania, he added.

The total debt of Mechel as of September 1st 2015 made up $6.313 bln.
