In 2015, metal consumption in Russia to decrease by 11%

During the annual Investor Day in London,the general director of Severstal's Management, V. Larin has spoken about the his vision of the results of the current year by the company.

According to the forecast, the apparent consumption of steel in Russia will decrease by 11% from 43 to 38.5 million tons. The rate of the decrease in the consumption on the main markets for the Russian metallurgy will increase. The construction market will be reduced by 12.7% for steel products as compared with the previous year (- 4.5% in 2014), the consumption in the automotive industry will fall by 25% (-12.5% ​​in 2014). The growth in the consumption of sheet will also slow down in such segment, as the production of large diameter pipes. According to V. Larin, the demand in this segment will increase by 15% as compared to 2014 (+53% in 2014).
