Rosneft prepares program in response to sanctions

As the Kommersant has got to know, Rosneft proposed to the Russian President, Vladimir Putin a package of measures to support the economy in conditions of the current sanctions. The list is extensive - from the restricting of nuclear waste disposal to the actual expropriation of foreign equipment. A part of the actions looks an outspoken attack even not against the West, but against Gazprom, whose position in the gas market Rosneft is trying to challenge. Basically, the company requires unprecedented benefits for the industry and itself. Sources of the Kommersant consider its desire is understandable, but impractical.

Rosneft has prepared a list of measures of the real economic support and the response against countries that introduced anti-Russian sectoral sanctions, several federal officials familiar with the situation reported to the Kommersant. The multi-page document was sent to the President, Vladimir Putin, then got on the desk of his assistant, Andrei Belousov, and now is analyzed in the related Ministries, says one of the Kommersant’s interlocutors. Rosneft declined to comment yesterday.
