BP intends to continue investing in Rosneft

British Petroleum (BP) intends to continue its strategic investment in Rosneft and hopes for a diplomatic settlement of problems between Russia and the West, said BP’s financial director Brian Gilvary.

"The geopolitical uncertainty in the region continued during the third quarter of the year, but didn’t have a significant impact on the work of Rosneft. BP will continue to comply with the sanctions regime. We will continue to make strategic investments in Rosneft and hope for a diplomatic solution of the existing problems. We have worked in Russia for many years and continue to believe in the possibility of solving problems, "- Gilvary said during the teleconference, devoted to the results of the company in the third quarter of 2014.

Mr. Gilvary added that BP watches Rosneft’s work in the Arctic with interest. "The results of the Rosneft’s geological exploration in the Kara Sea demonstrates the long-term potential of the region and confirms the need to preserve the energy balance in the world,” - the financial director of the British company added.
