Three quarters of Caspian oil reserves are located on shelf

The Ministry of Energy of the USA reported that proven and partially explored oil reserves at the Caspian Sea shelf are 48 billion barrels, and gas reserves are 8.2 trillion cubic m. 75% of oil and 67% of gas are located at the shelf sites, located in 160 km from the coast. Russia shares 6.1 billion barrels of this oil, including 4.5 billion barrels onshore and 1.6 billion offshore. Russian gas reserves are 3 trillion cubic m, including 2.6 trillion cubic m onshore and 390 billion cubic m offshore.
