Europe hopes to reduce energy dependence on Russia on account of gas from Azerbaijan

The idea to reduce dependence on Russia in the energy field against the background in the Ukraine strengthens in Europe and in this context the Southern gas corridor through the territory of Turkey is the main alternative to Russia.

The report stresses that “elimination of dependence on one supplier country (Russia) is the priority issue for the provision of the EU energy safety. 6 states of the Eu completely depend on gas supplies from Russia, and 9 countries of the EU, among which are Germany, Poland, Italy, depend on the gas supplies from Russia for 40-90%”.
