Gazprom not to surrender domestic market
In spite of the fall of demand at the domestic market and loss of many large gas consumers, Gazprom expects to maintain its supply share in Russia at the level of 75% till 2020. The monopoly intends to compensate the competition with independent gas producers due to Siberia and the Far East, which only it can supply with gas. At the same time, Rosneft and Novatek want to receive more than Gazprom forecasts – about 30% of the market with the total production in the amount of over 200 billion cubic meters of gas by 2020. Analysts find plans of the independent producers too ambitious, the Kommersant writes.
Yesterday, the Chief of the Gazprom’s Department of Marketing and Gas and Liquid Hydrocarbons Processing, the General Director of Gazprom mezhregiongaz, Kirill Seleznev reported that in 2012 the monopoly’s share at the market decreased to 73% from 76% in the previous year. But he assured that, in spite of active increase of the production and supply of Novatek and oil companies, Gazprom will have about 75% of the market due to new consumers till 2020. “We create them due to the gas supply program and development of gas consumption in Siberia and the Far East, which will significantly grow till 2020. That’s why I don’t exclude even that the Gazprom’s share at the domestic market will increase by 2020,” – the manager noted.
