Russia, Ukraine and EU may hold a meeting in early May

The Russian mass-media reported that a meeting on natural gas supply is expected in early May. The representatives of the EU, Russia and Ukraine will take part at the meeting. Russian Ministry of Energy was a main initiator of the meeting.

As far back as  mid April, the Russian president addressed letters to the leaders of Western and Eastern Europe, which included information on the debt of the Ukraine for natural gas. In particular, V.Putin informed the leaders of the countries that Russia has subsidized the Ukrainian economy at the expense of gas price reduction over the last 4 years. The total sum of the subsidies made up more than $35 000 000 000. He has offered to hold  consultations to relieve the Ukrainian economy from crisis and work out coordinated actions to improve gas supplies from Russia to Western countries.
