Naftogas to agree with European Commission on the price for Russian gas

Russia and the Ukraine with the participation of the EU have again agreed to start the negotiations about the gas issue. Kiev says it is ready to agree on the temporary price rise for gas but might raise the issue on the change of the conditions of the transit via the Ukraine. Russia keeps insisting on the former, conditions of the contract, RBC daily writes.

Europe’s participation

In the major dispute between Russia and the Ukraine the EU is an intermediary. Its main goal is to have the warranty of continuous gas supplies to Europe this winter. We can’t wait for the decision from Stockholm, we need a temporary decision for the coming winter, we agreed to go on consultations and we might come to the intermediate decision and a temporary price, the European Commissioner, G. Oettinger said. According to him, the compromise has to be found as soon as possible. The next meeting with the participation of the EU representative is appointed for September 6th. Tomorrow, on August 29th, G. Oettinger will meet with the Minister of Energy of Russia, A. Novak.
