Kazakhstan bans the import of Russian fuel.

Astana banned the import of diesel fuel again.

After a month's break Kazakhstan yet resumed the ban on the import of diesel fuel from Russia in an effort to protect local oil refineries from competing with Russian oil. Exporters consider the direction of Kazakh exports "very attractive": the deliveries from Russia are beneficial because of the lack of duties, excise duty and VAT. But the ban on the import, saving Kazakh oil refineries, strikes local gas stations, forced to buy local fuel at regulated prices.
