Gas to be supplied to China through the Amur River region

After signing of "gas contracts" between Russia and China in Shanghai, projects the delivery of natural gas to China were officially started, and construction of the infrastructure, much of which will be located in the Amur region, was started too.

"The direction is China»

On May 23rd, Gazprom’s CEO Alexei Miller signed an order on the start of the practical implementation of Gazprom’s investment projects to supply gas to China. According to the official site of the gas monopoly, from this day "all relevant divisions and subsidiaries of the company began to realize projects on creation of gas production, gas transportation and gas processing facilities for the organization of the gas supplies". This publication also cites almost " slogan" statement of Miller: "The direction is East. The direction is China. Let’s work!"

"Epochal" visit

This happened two days after the completion of work of the Russian delegation, headed by President Vladimir Putin, in Shanghai. The Russian and Chinese sides signed a huge number of different documents on cooperation, including a contract for the supply of Russian natural gas to China. Let’s recall that raw material will be produced at the Chayandinskoye field in Yakutia and will be delivered on the Russian Far East and China through the Power of Siberia pipeline, which main part will be laid through the Amur Region. Also gas-processing and helium plants will be built in the Amur region. So the Shanghai visit of Putin, which is worldwide discussed by politicians, mass media and ordinary people, is of great importance for the Amur region. China itself, apparently, went for the visit of the Russian president very seriously. Russians that were in Shanghai uploaded photos in social networks on the Internet with captions like "this has never happened in Shanghai yet". The pictures show the Pudong district - business center of the city (and perhaps the whole of China), where no cars, no pedestrians, Shanghai highways without traffic are in broad daylight and servicemen are on duty in subway cars. In general, security measures have been very, very serious ... It is interesting that Putin flew to Blagoveshchensk from Shanghai.
