Petrol market freezes, waiting for repairs at refineries

Continuous monthly rise in wholesale gasoline prices slowed last week against the background of increased production and supply of fuel. Now, market participants are waiting, whether the inventory level will be adequate under conditions when in April about a dozen large refineries will stop for repair almost simultaneously, says the Kommersant. Certain insurance for the market is fuel imports from Belarus, but for a while it’s unprofitable for local producers to carry the goods in Russia.

Last week, stock price of gasoline fell slightly for the first time after a continuous growth for a month. A-92 gasoline at the SPIMEX fell by 0.4% to 38.4 thousand rubles per ton, A-95 fell by 0.6% to 40.2 thousand rubles. Over the past month, the stock price of gasoline grew by about 8% against the background of how the oil companies increased the fuel reserves before spring repairs at refineries on the recommendation of the Ministry of Energy. The market, in turn, was in a hurry to buy goods for April, when the production should fall due to repairs.
