Gazprom wants to extend LNG sales on account of Africa and Middle East

In conditions, when the most developed Western countries (which are leading purchasers of Russian energy sources) consider possibility to reduce dependence of their economy on supplies of liquefied natural gas and oil from Russia, when the USA promises to satisfy needs of the EU in LNG due to supplies of American natural gas to Europe, it’s vitally important for Gazprom to find new markets for its products.

It isn’t a question of full embargo of Western countries on LNG supplies from Russia (at all events, for now), but significant reduction of purchases is possible in near future. Therefore, management of the Russian gas monopoly must be aimed at change of the main vector of the supplies. In particular, continuing to hope for maintenance of previous mutually beneficial relations in Asian and European regions, Gazprom looks for new potential clients in Middle and Far East, Africa and Latin America. At the same time, it mentions Japan (according to informed sources, negotiations with it develops normally, without any significant difficulties), Kuwait (which has about 4 billion cubic meters of gas less than it needs) and Egypt.
