The volume of the oil production in Yakutia to make up 20 million tons per year by 2020

It’s planned to increase the volume of oil production in the territory of the Republic of Yakutia to 20 million tons per year by 2020, the Permanent Representative of the Republic under the President of the Russian Federation, Alexander Akimov, reported to journalists in Moscow.

“Now we produce about 5 million tons of oil (per year). But by 2020 we map out to increase this level to 20 million tons per year,” – the Permanent Representative said at the press-conference.

He also reported that in the coming years several oil-processing plants are planned to be built.

“We have been faced the question about the building (of plants) for a long time. More than 10 billion (rubles) is spent on the import of oil products. On the one hand, when the railway is built our expenses will fall by half. The transport component makes about 60-70% of the each product’s cost,” – Akimov said.

He noted that at present the development of the project of the construction of several small oil-processing plants is carried out; their production will be intended not for export, but for the domestic needs of the Republic.
