Novatek opposes Gazprom’s discounts
Novatek opposes granting of the right to establish a discount for blue fuel to Gazprom. The draft resolution on discounts of Gazprom was designed by the Government in late 2013.
Novatek’s head Leonid Mikhelson has sent applications against the right of Gazprom for discounts to the deputy head of the Government and relevant departments. The company’s head suggested the Government to establish preferences for independent producers at first to allow them compete with the monopoly.
Currently, independent companies in the domestic market can provide a discount in the amount of 3%-10% of the tariffs, set by the Federal Tariff Service. Gazprom didn’t have such right and this allowed Novatek to win a number of the monopoly’s major clients over, including Russian energy units of the Italian company E.ON.
