The largest Russian coal transshipment complex Vostochny Port to continue construction of the 3rd stage
On February 28, 2013, the largest Russian stevedoring company Vostochny Port, specializing in the transshipment of hardcoal, will be 39 years old.
This day, in 1974, the status of the commercial seaport Vostochny Port was given to the enterprise by the order №36 of the Navy Department.
Then, 39 years ago, the enterprise was included into the List of the most important seaports, processed export-import cargo, as the port of the 1st category.
Today the transshipment volumes exceed 18 million tons per year that allows the company to maintain the leading position among stevedoring companies of the Far East.
At the end of 2012, Vostochny Port started the construction of the 3rd stage of the Coal complex.
This is another industrial-transshipping complex with a system of conveyor equipment and cars dispatch station. The 3rd stage with its freight turnover will gradually overtake the existing Coal complex.
The large-scale variant of the 3rd stage project intends the construction of an additional mooring with 2 vessel-loading machines, 2 car tippers and defrosters, 4 additional coal stocks with the possibility of one-time saving of up to 783 thousand tons of coal, equipped with 2 stackers and 4 reclaimers.
According to the forecast of the expert council, the total throughput capacity of the Port will increase to 27 million tons of coal per year by 2017. And by 2019, after the launch of the large-scale variant of the 3rd stage of the Coal complex, Vostochny Port will be able to process up to 35 million tons.
The Vostochny Port’s CEO A.lazarev notes: “After the launch of the 3rd stage of the Coal complex, the enterprise’s staff will exceed 2 thousand persons; today we have 1.65 thousand workers”.
The company’s management is confident that the implementation of the large-scale project, intended the creation of new working places, will provide the development and attractiveness as the enterprise, as the Primorsky Krai and the Far East of Russia.
The company Vostochny port includes two industrial- transshipping complexes.
The 1st one is the only specialized Coal complex with a system of conveyor equipment and cars dispatch station in the Primorsky Krai. The automation level reaches almost 98.9% here. The transshipment capacity is 14.2 million tons per year.
The 2nd one is the universal industrial- transshipping complex, which specialized in grab coal transshipment, its capacity is 3 million tons per year.
The main cargo is the hardcoal, mined in Kuzbass.
Today, the export coal makes up 98.5% of the whole cargo turnover of the stevedoring company, the share of coastwise coal makes up less than 1.5% and other cargo – 0.01%.
