Gaisky GOK to invest more than 190 million RUR in geological exploration in 2013

The Gaisky GOK Plc. (a mining and concentrating complex of UGMK) continues the financing of geological exploration projects. The area of the prospecting and evaluation works makes up 1,110.1 sq. km. In 2012 Gaisky GOK has six licenses for prospecting and evaluation: three – for copper-zinc ore bodies of the Isimbay area (Yasnensky, Adamovsky and Dombarovsky regions) and three – for gold-bearing ores of the Belozyorsky, Solenodolsky and Kvarkensky sectors (Kvarkensky district). The reserves and forecasted resources of these areas are assessed in more than 280 thousand tons of copper, 255 thousand tons of zinc and 102 tons of gold.

All these deposits are situated in economically developed districts of the Orenburg Region and connected with railroads and motorways. The development of the new deposits will not only provide additional economic efficiency but help the complex maintain the team of the workers and specialists dealing with the open-pit mining.

The Zimneye ore occurrence of the Isimbay area is situated at the territory of Yasnensky district of the Orenburg Region, 13 km to Yasny town. The Chief Geologist of Gaisky GOK ,Sergey Budchenko reports, the forecasted resources of the deposit make up 152 thousand tons of copper and 109.6 thousand tons of zinc. Technological samples proved that the deposit can provide copper and zinc concentrate with rather high extraction of commercial elements.

The Belozyorskoye gold ore occurrence is situated in Kvarkensky district near South Kirovskoye deposit already developed by the complex. Virgin gold contained in the ore of Belozyorskoye deposit mainly represents submicroscopic shot in rock minerals and partially in sulfides. The total amount of gold at Belozyorskyoe deposit makes up 16 tons (C2 - 11 tons and P1 – 5 tons).

“This is the raw resource characterizing the foreseeable period of next 5-7 years. In 2013-2014 we’ll have a clear idea of the new deposits which will be prospected and evaluated in Dombarovsky, Kvarkensky and Yasnensky districts. In the framework of its strategical development the complex is going to put into operation some more open cuts by 2015-2016. So, the prospects of Gaisky GOK are rather optimistic”, Chief Geologist of the enterprise says.
