Kirghiz deputy: “In the near future we will know if dreams come true with Gazprom”

"If Parliament doesn’t approve the agreement on sale of Kyrgyzgas to Russian Gazprom, I don’t think that this decision will lead to disastrous effect. In this case, the Government would have to negotiate on gas supplies independently, to pay debts and to find funds for modernization of Kyrgyzgas. It’s not necessarily to sell Kyrgyzgas. For example, the company can be long-term leased," - the deputy of the Kyrgyzstan’s parliament Dastan Bekeshev said in an interview with the news agency REGNUM.

The REGNUM: Who will be responsible for the consequences if the country remains without gas in the winter?

If the country finds money and pays to suppliers, Kyrgyzstan won’t remain without gas. It just going to be expensive. Our neighbors are not rich enough to refuse additional incomes from the sale of blue fuel. I would like to note that according to proposed agreement Gazprom ensures uninterrupted gas supply at prices below the current tariffs. But there is no rule on liability of the Russian enterprise in case of non-fulfillment of its obligations.
