The EC will bring the verdict about the agreement of Gazprom and Germany on OPAL pipeline within 4 months

The EC will make their decsion about the agreement of Gazprom and the German regulator, Bundesnetzagentur on the OPAL pipeline within 4 months. The Russian and the German sides closed the agreement earlier in November. The EC will study the agreement for 2 months with the possible prolongation for an extra 2 months.

OPAL pipeline with capacity of 36 billion cubic m is laid via Germany. It connects Nord Stream with the gas transport network that existed before. Russia and Germany were eager to achieve the exclusion of the OPAL pipeline from the Third energy package norms that gives to Gazprom the opportunity to fill in the pipeline by not more than a half.
