The RF Ministry of Natural Resources asks fro benefits for Gazprom to develop the South-Kirinsk field.

To effectively develop the South Kirinsk field (the right to development belongs to Gazprom), gas produced there should be taxed on the mineral extraction tax (MET) at a reduced rate. The state Secretary, the Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Svetlana Radchenko sent a letter with this position to the Ministry of Finance on October 23 ("The Vedomosti" has a copy of the document).

The representative of the RF Ministry of Natural Resources confirmed it.

"South Kirinsk field is a very important object,it is  necessary for the implementation of the third stage of the LNG project "Sakhalin-2". Given that this is the only deposit referred to in the sanctions list, the exploitation of which will require fairly complicated technological solutions, it is important to support the company. We believe this decision is justified", - the RF Minister of Natural Resources Sergey Donskoy told "the Vedomosti" through a representative.
