Russia is going to try to double liquefied gas export to Japan

Russia is going to try to double an export of liquefied gas to Japan by 2025. Izvestiya writes citing the deputy Minister of Energy of Russia, A.Texler.

“Continuous cooperation is held between Russia and Japan at an intergovernmental level. They are interested in the growth of LNG import from Russia. It could be about to increase by twice. We set an objective. They talk about it at every-single negotiation,” Texler said.

To date, then import of Russian liquefied natural gas to Japan makes up about 8 million tons (80% of the total LNG production in Russia). By 2020, the Ministry of Energy is about to supply 40-60% of gas from the planned 800 billion cubic meters to the Asian-Pacific Ocean countries.
