The problems of Sabetta threaten Yamal LNG

As the Kommersant has got to know, the Novatek’s Yamal LNG project may face a problem: Sberbank was to carry out an evaluation of the construction of Sabetta port before the end of the current year, but due to legal conflicts it can’t even start. As a result, the launch date of the port, which is required for the shipment of products from Yamal LNG may be delayed. Each month of the delay threatens the state with a fine in the amount of $400 million.

The fact that Sberbank hasn’t yet started to carry out the process and price audit of the project of the seaport Sabetta construction in the Yamal-Nenets autonomous district was told the Kommersant by several sources on the market. According to one of them, the timing is delayed because of the contradictions in the legislation: the Ministry of Housing and Building didn’t include Sberbank in the list of organizations, authorized to carry out audits of large investment projects with state participation.
