Kazakhstan doesn’t plan to increase coal production till 2030

Kazakhstan doesn’t plan to increase the coal production till 2030, Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Industry and New Technologies Asset Issekeshev said at a briefing in Astana on Tuesday.

"As for the coal industry, we have a rather conservative approach: last year we produced 112 million tons and we plan to stay in the corridor of 100-120 million tons by 2030," - he said.

Isekeshev explained that such production forecast is connected with the fact that "coal will remain a major resource for thermoelectric power stations in Kazakhstan till 2030, but at the same time our export to Russia begins to decline".
