BP takes part in gas rally “Azerbaijan-Europe”

Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline (TANAP) is one of the essential components of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC), which will provide access to the European market for Caspian gas - a real alternative to Russian "blue fuel".

The importance and significance of TANAP is reinforced with interest of big players on the global energy market. Thus, in March this year, BP and the TANAP consortium signed a shareholder agreement, under which BP, acquired 12%, will be a shareholder of TANAP. This agreement is one of the basic documents for the ownership of the share in the project by BP.

According to BP's manager in Georgia Chris Schluter, the company intends to complete the acquisition of the stake in the project during two months. "We are very close (to enter the project) ... Over the past week and a half, there was a very good progress in this regard," - said Schluter.

As you know, at the initial stage, Azerbaijani gas, produced within the second stage of development of the Shah Deniz offshore field, will be transported via SGC. Only in 2015, the consortium for the development of Shah Deniz, operated by BP, plans to spend about $6 billion for the project of Shah Deniz-2 and the expansion of the South Caucasus Pipeline.
