China doesn’t want to give Russia a present by signing agreement on Power of Siberia-2

The energy turn of Russia towards Asia will experience the most serious test in early September, when the Russian President Vladimir Putin will pay a visit to Beijing.

This will occur against the background of the sharp collapse of oil prices and fears of investors because of slowdown in the Chinese economy, reports the Bloomberg.

On August 18th, Gazprom stated that the negotiations about the second gas contract on Power of Siberia-2 with China "have good momentum", but the Chinese authorities haven’t justified the Russian hopes that the agreement on the project will be signed during the two-day visit of the Russian president China in early September, as China and Russia won’t do it during the visit.
