Joint projects of Rosneft and Statoil

The head of Norwegian oil-and-gas concern Statoil H.Lund says that western sanctions against Russia could cause the postponement of joint projects with “Rosneft”, Bloomberg reports. But he did not say what projects could be impacted.

As ITAR-TASS stated on August 18th, Rosneft and Statoil started prospecting at Pingvin (licence PL713) on the Norwegian part of the Barents Sea. The drilling of the first appraisal well “Pingvin-1” is carried out with the help of a drilling unit Transocean Spitsbergen. The depth of the drilling site is 422 meters, the target depth – 1516 meters. The results will be analyzed before the end of 2014.

“Rosneft” became a participant of the project by the results of the 22nd licence round for the right to develop the sites of the Barents Sea in June 2013. On the results of the tender “Rosneft” signed an agreement with Statoil and received a 20% share in 4 sites within the frame of PL713 licence at the shelf of the Barents Sea. The licence PL713 comprises 4 blocks. They are 7219/2, 3 and 7319/11, 12.
