In September 2009 the top managers of Gazprom opened the 4 km railway bridge across Yuribey (the river in Yamal) – the longest in the world above the Arctic Circle. The bridge is one of more than 70 bridges of Obskaya-Bovanenkovo-Karskaya railway (130 billion RUR). The railway was needed to develop Bovanenkovo deposit (the largest in Yamal).
During the solemn opening representatives of Gazprom were posing on timber sleepers, while in compliance with the project the rails must have been adjusted to reinforced concrete slabs, Vedomosti reports.
