The Ukraine imported Russian gas worth $100 bln in 1991-2015

​In 1991-2015 the Ukraine imported gas from Russia for over $100 bln, the acting head of the Committee of the Supreme Rada of the Ukraine for the issues of the fuel and energy sector, nuclear policy and safety, A. Dombovsky, said.

I would like to draw your attention to the fact that we have paid over $100 bln to Russia, he said.

It concerns only gas import from Russia.

According to Naftogas, the volume of gas import from Russia in 2015 fell by more than twice and made up 6.1 bln cubic m. the Ukraine increased by more than twice gas purchase from the EU to 10.3 bln cubic m from 5 bln in 2014.

The Ukraine doesn’t purchase the Russian gas from the end of November 2015 but imports transit gas from the EU assuring that its price is lower than that from Russia. Previously the Vice-PM of the Ukraine, S. Kubiv, announced the forecast average price for imported gas in May-December 20116 at the level of $185.11/thousand cubic m, taking into account the expenditure for its pumping to the western border – about $195.
