The Kremlin is ready to approve admission of Lukoil to Arctic shelf, Sechin opposes

The presidential administration has supported the idea to allow Lukoil to develop deposits on the Arctic shelf. The main lobbyist of the access of non-state companies to the shelf became assistant to the President Andrei Belousov.

In early March, Belousov reported to President Vladimir Putin on elaboration of Lukoil’s proposal on access to the Arctic shelf of non-state companies. Assistant to the President noted that "in principle, he supports" the proposal. He asked to instruct the Government to work out this idea, and to submit the proposals before May 1.
