UK to buy gas from Russia despite sanctions

The UK authorities are ready to begin direct purchases of gas from Russia in spite of the threat of additional sanctions, with which the leaders of the EU countries threaten Russia.

“The largest British energy company Centrica, which owns British Gas, will begin the direct import of Russian gas in October of this year. Centrica’s plans on purchases remain in force, despite the actions of diplomats around the Ukrainian situation and their pressure on European politicians in order to reduce their energy dependence on Russia,” – the RIA Novosti reports.

The edition notes that the gas production in the Great Britain falls by 7% per year and the country needs direct supplies.
