Rosneft negotiates with Exxon Mobil Corp about participation in its licenses for the development of oil and gas reserves of Kurdistan.
In October 2011, Exxon Mobil closed 6 contracts with the administration of Kurdistan about oil and gas deposits exploration in the region. In 2013, the company started seismic exploration at 4 of these blocks and drilling of the first well.
