NLMK-Kaluga increased smelting series

​NLMK-Kaluga has set a new record on the duration of a melting series -123 meltings at one intermediate ladle. The measured on the increase of melting series, along with other projects of efficiency rise of production processes allowed the company to save over 400 mln roubles in 2015.

The seriation of metal pouring is one of the factors influencing on the results of metal charge expenditure, fireproof materials and stability of production in general. So in the framework of the programs of operational efficiency increase the works on the increase of melting seriation are held at NLMK-Kaluga.

The record by the series of melting was set at the electric steel making shop on Jan 14-18, 2016. The period of continual pouring made up 83 hours and 47 minutes. The total metal volume in the series made up 15.6 thousand tons. A new record exceeded the plant’s last year record of 110 meltings which stayed one of the best world results for mini-plants of similar capacity.
