Gazprom’s Board discussed perspectives of development of production and extraction of shale gas in the world

The Board of Gazprom discussed the results of the monitoring of the shale gas sector's development in the various regions of the world.

Today the proven reserves of shale gas in the world are assessed at 5 trln cubic m – less than 3% of the total volume of proven gas reserves in the world.

Proven shale gas reserves are focused mainly in the USA, Canada and China.

The fall of oil and gas prices negatively influences on the development of the shale gas sector.

In the USA on the background of low prices for hydrocarbons the park of existing drilling units reduced by more than 60% in 2014.
