Ministry of Energy advises Rosneft and Novatek not to fear competition with Gazprom

The Russian Ministry of Energy has tried to appease independents gas producers on Thursday, stated that the Government’s plans to provide Gazprom the right to sell gas on the domestic market at a price below the regulated tariffs, wouldn’t affect the situation on the market.

The main independent gas producers are Rosneft and Novatek. Both companies are actively expanding their market shares by selling gas to consumers at prices below the regulated ones, while Gazprom, being a natural monopoly, can sell gas only at regulated prices.
