UC Rusal hopes to save its profitability

UC Rusal’s head, V. Soloviev, said that the company doesn’t expect the price of  aluminium to rise and forecasts the price (including premium) at $1,950-2,000/ton at the end of 2015.

UC Rusal’s plants at such prices will keep making a profit – their range of prime cost is $1,500-1,860. However, there are still problems with the Kandalakshky plant.

Mr. Soloviev said that the company considers the shutdown of up to 200 thousand tons of capacities, including the  Kandalakshky plant.
