Better to sell US shale gas in Asia, than in Europe

Shale gas from the USA has more chances for profitable sale in Asia than in Europe. The Europeans will have to suggest higher price for American gas in order to compete with Asian market, V.Chizhov, Russian Ambassador to the European Union said.

Speaking at the College of Europe in the Belgian city of Bruges he has noted gas prices were higher in Europe than in the US, but lower, compared to Asia. So, the Asian markets have more chances to get American shale gas, if the US authorities provide new export licenses. RIA Novosti reports.

“By the market economy the gas will go to the markets, where the prices are higher and more interesting (to Asia). If Europe wants to compete with Asia for American gas, it will have to pay more,” Chizhov said.
