Rolled products consumption to fall by 11.5% in 2015

In 2015 the economic situation in the country keeps worsening under the influence of structural and external political factors. The volume of steel production in Russia will fall and make up 69 mln tons (71 mln tons in 2014). Consumption of rolled products will fall to 40 mln tons (-11.5% against 2014). It will be due to the following factors:

  • Reduction of availability of loans and stiffening of conditions of mortgage issue.
  • Reduction of demand from the part of final consumers (fall of real revenue, growth of price for products).
  • Price rise for imported spare parts, as a consequence a significant price rise for products (for car and machine manufacturing segments).
  • Rise of a stake of available premises in 2014 (non-residential property), is said in the published by “Russian Steel” presentation “On the results of 2014, current situation in metallurgical sector and perspectives of development”.
