EU prepares gas agreements with Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan

The EU is trying to agree with Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan on gas supply to the EU to diversify the sources when Russia refused to realize the South Stream. Brussels is expected to make a presentation of the EU energy union’s strategy on Wednesday.

According to Financial Times, the EU will increase the agitation on Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan due to the cooling of relationships with Moscow trying to put the rich by gas but politically sensitive countries (Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan) in the center of the EU energy strategy.

According to the initial projects of the plan, the EU will try to use all the tools of its foreign policy to set up strategic partnership relationships in the energy sphere with the alternative fuel suppliers, such as Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Algeria.
