Mechel postpones payments – the company delays trade payables

As the Kommersant has discovered, the debt-ridden Mechel of Igor Zyuzin has delayed payments to partners’ services: electric networks, railways, gas suppliers. Some debtors have gone to the law already. Mechel assures that payments to transport operators will take place “within agreements”, and in number of other cases the company’s creditors are guilty. At the same time, Mechel asks the Government to change rules of payment for monopolies’ services. It will be difficult to obtain it, but the sector calls the problem common and supports the company.

Mechel of Igor Zyuzi became a problem partner. The Kommersant’s market sources on the market of railway service say that the company pays intermittently. Freight One has supposedly "suspended work with Mechel because of non-compliance with the terms of the contract on the payment for services" already. Another source of the Kommersant reports that Mechel has a big debt to Novaya Perevozochnaya company, in connection with which it serves the company mainly during back loading of wagons. Operators declined to comment.
