Mounting of frame cranes started at the building ground of Severstal-Balakovo graded plant

The mounting of three frame cranes for the transshipment and processing of metal scrap started at the  building ground of Severstal-Balakovo graded plant.

The cranes are the largest aggregates of the mini plant. Their height will make up 28 metres. The span of each crane makes up 118.6 metres. Each crane will be equipped with two elevating mechanisms with the capacity of 16 tons as well as electromagnetic washers and grapple buckets. Besides, the mechanisms presuppose installation of all necessary safety systems, i.e. collision protection devices, crane overload limiters, automatic pinchers preventing the crane from wind creep and recorders of crane working parameters transmitting the data to the central control room.

“The crane bridge will be welded out of 7 metallurgical structures on the ground. Then the frames will be mounted. After that the two cranes with the capacity of 450 and 500 tons will elevate the new cranes”, CEO of Severstal-Balakovo graded plant CJSC Igor Baikov specifies.

The cranes will be equipped with air conditioners and modern control systems. Come cranes can be operated from the ground. Thus, high labour protection level will be provided.

The plant will have more than 70 cranes, including frame cranes, wall cranes and bridge cranes with capacity of 1-240 tons. 18 cranes made by Italian Danieli are the main technological equipment. They are being mounted at the main production sites.
