Open gas trade in Europe may replace long-term contracts of Gazprom

The concern will have to change approaches to pricing and gas trade in the next 10 years to keep its position in the European gas market, Institute for Energy of the Higher School of Economics and the Institute for Energy Studies of the RAS state. The company will gradually reduce “take or pay” liabilities and increase spot price indexing. In future, long-term contracts will be replaced by short-term exchange trade. A spokesman for Gazprom did not respond to the request.
