Europe doesn’t have enough gas for Kiev: reverse gas supplies to the Ukraine falls dramatically

The reverse gas supplies from Europe to the Ukraine, which was the only source of imports to the country from mid-June, fell by more than two times in July. Different reasons for this are being given in Kiev: the country's Energy Ministry accuses Russia of putting pressure on suppliers, and Naftogaz Ukrainy thinks that Europe prepares for the winter by storing additional volumes in its underground storages. Slovakia can improve the situation for the Ukraine: with the reverse supplies from it, which doesn’t cause any complaints from Gazprom, should begin in September. But experts point out that it won’t save Kiev from the price of reverse gas, which will be commensurate with the prices, offered to the Ukraine by Gazprom.

Yesterday, the Fuel and Energy Minister, Yuri Prodan reported that in the recent two weeks the gas reverse supplies from the EU to the country decreased to 7 million cubic meters per day, while the possible volume was 18 million cubic meters. "We think this is connected with certain actions of Gazprom," - he said.
